Flames Into A Sun

A writer stares into the night
Defies the empty page
A silent symphony plays on
His muse now stepped away

Through all those years
When his mind was clear
Passion ruled his destiny
But age has slowed those impulsive tones
Now lost to scrutiny

Through the haze he holds his fire
Destiny or sheer desire
A tiny dot ignites, inspires
His hemispheres flood
then flame into a sun

A lonely man tends his lot
Plants a hopeful seed
Caring as he toils for
his isolated dream

His senses feel
Destiny is real
All his crops are overdue
Until that day he must hope and pray
For wishes to come true

Through his pain he holds his fire
Destiny or sheer desire
A seedling sprouts, ignites, inspires
His heart strings play on
then flame into a sun

A frightened wife hides her secret
Praying this time is the last
Her pain running both skin and heart
His evil spell is cast

Her inner voice
Knows this is not her choice
She needs one moment to escape
Until that time she’ll live his crime
While waiting for her day

Through her fear she holds her fire
Destiny or sheer desire
One sign of hope ignites, inspires
From bruises and blood
then flames into a sun

Desperate days of everyday people
flatline dreams once inspired
but those who realize their true desire
Are those who hold their fire

Photo and words are my own.
