Poem: The Faithless Man

He pushed his women away
If they wouldn’t obey
The testing they knew wasn’t right

All those demands on them
To prove their love again
Were always selfish, petty trite

He could never say
‘Life is living on faith’
Always feeling lonely, but never contrite

Another one of the faithless
Who can feel no trust
A soul layered in rust

One of the faithless
Who can only lust
Their love as thick as dust

He could never look back
Would never examine the fact
What he gave them wasn’t love

He explained away
And was never swayed
From the constant questions and demands

When they walked away
Only one thing to say
They’d gone astray with another man

So he lived his life
Content that might was right
All alone, his faith only in himself
